Privacy policy

The short version

• No accounts, names, emails, or profiles.
• Voice is peer to peer. We do not record or store calls.
• Chat is live and ephemeral. We do not keep a message history.
• The server only handles matchmaking, signaling, and live chat relay.

Who we are

Connectoo is operated at connectoo.live. This policy covers the website, the talk app, and related signaling services. Use of the service is also governed by our terms of use.

Information we process

Microphone

The app asks your browser for microphone access so you can talk. Audio is captured on your device and sent to your match over WebRTC. We do not receive a copy of that audio on our API, and we do not store recordings.

If your network cannot connect directly, media may be relayed through a TURN server so the call can still work. That relay is for connectivity, not storage. Streams are not archived.

Matchmaking and signaling

To pair you with someone and set up WebRTC, we process short-lived session data such as a random client identifier, connection state (waiting, in a call), room membership, and signaling messages (offers, answers, ICE candidates). This lives in memory / Redis for the life of the session, not as a user profile.

Live chat

Optional text chat is relayed through our servers so both people in a room can see it. Messages are not written to a long-term database. When you skip, leave, or the reconnect window expires, the room and its chat are gone.

On your device

We store a random client id and a short reconnect snapshot in sessionStorage so a refresh or brief disconnect can restore the same match. Theme preference is stored in localStorage. These are not advertising cookies. Closing the tab clears session data.

Technical logs

Like most websites, our host may see your IP address, browser type, and request timestamps in server or load-balancer logs. We use this to keep the service running (abuse, uptime, debugging), not to build a profile of you. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics pixels on the marketing site or the app.

How we use this information

• Match you with another person and keep the session alive.
• Exchange WebRTC signaling so audio can connect.
• Relay in-room chat while the room exists.
• Restore a match after a short network drop or refresh.
• Operate, secure, and debug the service.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share chat or audio with advertisers. Infrastructure we use (hosting, Redis, TURN) may process connection data solely to deliver the product. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people from serious harm.

Your match can hear you and read whatever you type in that room. Do not share secrets, identity documents, or anything you would not say to a stranger.

Retention

Session and room state is discarded when you leave, skip, or the reconnect grace period ends. Device storage lasts until you clear site data or close the tab (session) or change theme (local). Server logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and then rotated.

Your choices

• Deny microphone permission — you will not be able to talk.
• Skip or leave at any time.
• Close the tab to end the session and clear sessionStorage.
• Clear site data in your browser to remove theme preference.

Children

Connectoo is for people 18 and older only. It is not directed at children or teens. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using the service, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to stop it.

International users

The service is hosted in the region where our servers currently run. By using Connectoo, you understand that connection data may be processed there.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes (for example if we add reports or bans). The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
